Description: Our current 65 gallon tank (36"X 18"X24") has been running for 14 months and is thriving. We use 2 filtration systems: a fluval-305 using a variation of fluval lab series products as well as activated carbon with phosphate and nitrate removers when needed. Our second filter is a Marineland H.O.T. Magnum 250 Canister Filter, primarily used as a powerhead, also utilized for it's zero bypass filter capability during water changes. Lighting (With LED moonstrip)- -Months 1-10: Compact fluorescent CFL -Months 11-current:1 250 Watt Metal Halide Live Rock: 110 lbs. -Mixed live Fiji & Tonga branch -Live sand & crushed coral: 60 lbs.
Advice: Don't overcomplicate. Make sure to populate your tank with useful livestock (reef cleaners)!
Fish Kept: Fish: 2 tomato clowns, 1 niger trigger, 1 six line wrasse, 1 pink spot shrimp goby, 2 pajama cardinals, 3 green chromies. Inverts: 1 skunk cleaner shrimp, 1 coral banded shrimp, 50 hermit crabs (red &blue leg mix), 1 sand sifting starfish, 20 various snails
Corals/Plants: Coral: Blue mushrooms, green mushrooms, brown mushroom, 3 zoanthid mats, 1 fifty plus head duncan, 3 various leathers, 1 frogspawn frag Plants: None.
