About Yourself:
I work as a Countryside Ranger. I enjoy visiting the countryside with family and friends, doing things with my kids, playing sports and keeping fit, listening to progressive and avant garde music and looking after my house, car and garden.
I started in the aquarium hobby when 8 years old when my mum bought me an 18" tank for bringing home a good school report. I've kept and bred many fish and had most of the usual disasters that good knowledge can save us from. I have 4 aquaria and look after another one at my local primary school. My Clown Loach are 15 years old and going strong.
I look after my family and fish before turning to anything else.
Fish Kept:
8" Electric Blue Jack Dempsey,
6 x 6" Clown Loach,
5" Kissing Gourami,
4 x 6" Boesemans Rainbow,
Brown Ancistrus,
Gold Ancistrus.
Corals/Plants:
Setularia argentea.
Tank Size:
90 gallons
Advice:
This is a great hobby.
However, fish live in their toilet and will die unless you detoxify their environment.
First deal with the ammonia by developing a mature filter then deal with the nitrate by changing some of the water regularly.
Your fish live in their loo,
So there are things you've got to do.
To stop things going out of kilter,
Make sure you have a good mature filter.
The next solution to pollution,
Is water changes, that's dilution!

my mum worked at a local aquatic shop before it closed down when i was very young, my grandfather used to breed oscars, discus & bettas, so i guess its in the blood!
i love this tank, i had this put into a partition wall so it can be viewed from both sides, my toddlers love it and i keep them well educated!

About Yourself:
I have been doing freshwater for about 15 years. Just started saltwater last year. I had a 150 gallon FOWLR tank. Want to start a some what affordable reef tank, so I downgraded to a 29.

This was my 150 freshwater tank. Dimensions are 48x24x31. Stuffed with chichlids, babies everywhere. 150 lbs of rock and driftwood that I had found myself. A mixture of different chichlid sands. A few fake plants for color. Fluval FX5 canister filter, a 600 gph koralia powerhead for circulation. Two 48" 40w T-8 10K and Actinic for color. 3 x 50w of xenon halogen lighting, gave a nice shimmering effect.

"Bigger is Better! (and much easier)"
About Yourself:
I’ve kept fish for about 20 years. Like most people, I started with a small 20 gallon tank. Then I upgraded to a 55 Gallon. Then I upgraded again to two 55 gallon corner tanks. A couple of years ago I bought my current 150 Gallon Tank. I love fish! If you are on this site, I bet you can relate! I love an aquarium that is unique. So, rather than the “Cookie Cutter” decorations available at the local pet store. So, it brought out my creativity with my functional DIY Tank that has tons of the hiding places that Cichlids love!
Fish Kept:
Community Tank 50+ Total Fish... (1) Red Empress, (6) Peacock Cichlids (2 Hansbaenschi, 1 Steveni, 1 Stuartgranti , 1Stuargranti 1 Jacobreibergi , (1) Fontosa, (1) Demasoni, (1) Texas Cichlid, (2) Firemouth Cichlids, (1) Discus Cichlid, (2) Parrot Cichlids, (1) Nyererei ,(1) Caeruleus Cichlid, (1) Pyrsonotos (4) Convict Cichlids), (1) Ornatus Cichlid (5) Misc. African Cichlids, (1) Golden Ram, (1) Tinfoil Bard, (2) Silver Dollars, (2) Headstanders, (1) Figure Eight Puffer, (1) Rainbow Shark, (1) Gold Garammi, (1) Angel Fish, (2) Placostiumus (1) Upside Down Catfish, (1) Speckled Catfish, (1) Fancy Fin Catfish, (3) Electric Blue Crayfish, and a handful of other fish that are hiding so I can’t name them right now…lol.
Corals/Plants:
A variety of mostly synthetic plants.
Tank Size:
150 gallons
Advice:
Do your homework, learn as much as you can, then, put that knowledge into practice. Also, larger tanks are, in many ways, easier. The filtration is key, so get the biggest, most powerful system your tank can handle. Really understand water quality it will make all the difference!
