Description:
My 55gal assorted Malawi/Tanganyika cichlid tank. Malawi fish include a yellow lab, demasoni, hap compressiceps(eye biter), hap moorii(blue dolphin), peacock hybrid and Synodontis catfish. Tanganyika fish include a golden juli and a calvus. Also Raphael Catfish, 2 plecos, clown loach, 2 danias, and some botias.

Currently doing my homework to get ready and start a nice big Malawi setup for my second tank now that I am back into the hobby, hopefully a 75+

Trichogaster trichopterus (blue gourami), Colisa lalia (dwarf gourami), Trichogaster trichopterus (gold gourami), Macropodus opercularis (paradise fish), 16 Danio rerio (15 zebra danio, 1 leopard danio), 2 Corydoras splendens (emerald cory), 8 Hasemania nana (silver tip tetra), 3 Xiphophorus maculatus (creamsicle hi fin platy)
Corals/Plants:
All fake plants mix of plastic and some silk, hairgrass (eleocharis acicularis), Ruffled sword (Aponogeton crispus), Caluerpa verticellate, and lots of others. two lava rock caves, mopani wood
Tank Size:
45 gallons
Advice:
Even though everyone says it, research, research, research! Study and do as much reading on what you want as possible. It really does pay off to know what you are getting before hand and to be patient when setting up that new tank.

Just be patient and read up on the subject... don't be afraid to try new things, but remember to budget well

4ft tank with homemade 3D background. 1 marine white bulb and blue actnic light to enhcnce the fishes colours. Several built in caves (with side views) mean the fish have places to hide and feel safe. The fake rock overhangs give a nice authentic feel and great shadows.
